If you or I were to win a lottery one day, I’m sure we would waste no time in claiming our reward.
But we already possess a gift of enormous value given to us freely at our birth. It is the gift of inner peace — the peace of our own eternal presence – which alone guarantees the happiness for which we long.
What do we have to do to claim this gift?
Here’s the secret I learned after being diagnosed with colon cancer a year ago.
As fear ebbed and flowed within me, I realized that I did not need to stay focused in my fear. There was an alternative. I became almost giddy as I realized that the inner peace of which I speak is always present with us, and that all I had to do was switch the focus of my attention away from fear and place it instead on the peace of pure, eternal presence.
As the ancient scripture tells us, “Perfect love casts out all fear.”
The inner peace of which I speak never leaves us. It is always here. It is always present. It is always with you and within you, calling to you in every moment of your life. Fear is not the burden we may have thought it to be.
Blessings to you, and I’d love to share any thoughts you may have on the above.
